It appears that your Samsung LightScribe DVD-RW drive has an IDE interface. If the drive also has an IDE interface, follow these simple instructions.

Connect one end of the IDE cable on the hard disk, which should have a bridge that is configured as a unit. The second connector on the IDE cable must be in the DVD-RW, and the bridge should be connected as a slave disk to be defined. The other end of the cable is used in the IDE port on the motherboard. That's it!

If your hard drive has a SATA interface, you need a different type of cable and separate DVD-RW lied.

Connect the DVD recorder to the hard drive. Connect the HD to a SATA connector on the motherboard. It combines the optical drive to another SATA connector on the motherboard, or if a PATA PATA port.

The DVD drive and the hard drive is not connected, but must be directly on the motherboard.

They can not both independent elements that are directly connected to the M / B. DVD uses an IDE cable, while using the SATA hard drive.
